Vision

We desire to be a diverse community that proclaims the gospel and makes disciples for the glory of God and the renewal of our city.

New City Fellowship exists to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. The message of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is so incredible and life transforming that it is our one main thing.  It’s our vision and core passion to proclaim this message in our gathered worship services, community life, neighborhoods, and ultimately around the world.

The widespread city of Manassas is vastly and beautifully diverse, yet it is sadly segmented into pockets of different ages, ethnicities, races, and economic statuses, creating walls of division seldom crossed. Sadly, people in this area are so busy with stressful jobs and lengthy commutes that a culture of community and deep friendship is altogether absent. We envision New City Fellowship being a church filled with people from all walks of life, displaying the unifying power of the gospel which teaches us to love and experience deep fellowship with each other; especially those different from us.

The people of this city are not only vastly diverse but also desperately broken as a result of sin; regardless of how they may look on the outside. The good news tells us that Jesus saves us at our worst but he doesn’t leave us that way. Imagine a community where meaningful transformation and growth is experienced in the lives of broken people. This is the exact type of discipleship we envision at New City.

As we proclaim the gospel, and foster a diverse community of transformed disciples, what would happen to this city? As our people live under the values and authority of the heavenly city, our current fallen city filled with division, darkness, and brokenness would slowly be made new.

For the glory of God, this is the church our Lord Jesus Christ has called New City Fellowship to be.

Values

In order to achieve our vision of being a diverse community that proclaims the Gospel and makes disciples for the glory of God and the renewal of our city, we must hold these essential values.

GOSPEL

This is the core of all our other values. The gospel is the message of God’s saving work through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The gospel tells us God’s overarching redemptive plan in history and it transforms the lives of individual people by canceling their debt of sin and restoring their relationship with God.

(Mark 1:14, Romans 1:16, Ephesians 2:1-10, 1 Corinthians 15:1-5)

TRUTH

The gospel is revealed in truth through the scriptures of the Old and New Testament by pointing us to the person and work of Jesus Christ. The scriptures and the person of Christ are God’s revelation to us, communicating what we are to believe about Him and what His will is for our lives. As a church we are committed to God’s truth and this is expressed through preaching directly from the scriptures and building the church’s beliefs and practices exclusively on Bible.

(Psalm 86:11, John 14:6, 2 Timothy 3:16)

VITALITY

The gospel brings new life. Because of sin, we once were spiritually dead but have been made alive in Christ. Through our union with the living God we find our deepest satisfaction, our reason for living, and our ultimate joy through our relationship with Him. This new vitality is expressed through earnest prayer, vibrant worship, and ultimately walking with God in all of life by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

(John 4:23-24, Ephesians 2:1-5, 1 Peter 2:4-5)

COMMUNITY

The gospel not only changes how we relate to God but also how we treat one another. Having been adopted as God the Father’s children, we now relate to one another as family, and pursue authentic relationships with each other. We will care for, encourage, lovingly confront, and walk in genuine love for one another as we grow together in Christ. We seek to be a diverse family, which is only explainable through the gospel.

(Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 4:1-6, 1 John 3:14-18)

MISSION

The gospel must now be proclaimed by Jesus’ disciples in every sphere of society while making his mercy tangible to the suffering. New City Fellowship will engage in this mission in our homes, neighborhoods, city, and ultimately to the ends of the earth. Our church meetings are a welcome place for both the spiritually disengaged and the skeptical, and we will walk with people in love regardless of their doubts or struggles.

(Matthew 28:19, Acts 13:1-3, 2 Corinthians 5:18-21)
